PARADISE IN THE NORTH
That feeling when all you want to do is to escape from the rapid
life of the city and just sit back and turn time into a slow motion. While
being taken into the world of enjoyment where all your stress will be swept
away. A moment, where you just breathe like you own every bit of fresh air.
Laugh like there’s no tomorrow. And make memories that would last forever.
Luckily, we had the chance to escape to Malapascua; the
place I call Paradise.
Malapascua Island, Cebu, Philippines (A View front the boat)
Malapascua is a small island in the northern most tip of Cebu. It takes 4-5 hours (with traffic) ride to the port of Maya via bus and 45 minutes boat ride from port of Maya to Malapascua Island. However, if you would take a public van, then it could be lesser than 4hrs. YES! It is not easy to just sit inside the bus for 4-5 hours, but if you look outside the window you'll see the other side of Cebu. And of course, once you get there you'll never regret it. The place is astonishingly beautiful.

After 5 hours of waiting, we have finally arrived in Malapascua. When we arrive all we could say is WOW! The smell of fresh air, the clear blue sea water that matches the blue sky is amazing. At one glance all your stress will vanish into thin air.
We didn't book a hotel prior to our trip but finding a place to stay wasn't difficult. We are 5 people and we found a place for Php 1,200 per night. It has 2 queen size bed and we even got an extra foam. The room was big and comfortable (too bad I wasn't able to take a picture of the room) but there are lots of nice hotel in the island that you can choose from. The next thing we did was finding a place to eat because we were starving already.
Another thing I like about Malapascua is because they have a lot of seafood recipes. And as a seafood lover, I didn't miss to have my seafood lunch. It's not just yummy looking but it really taste delicious. Every time I see the picture it makes me hungry again haha (drooling). And the fresh fruit juice I had was so refreshing.
Actually, we arrive in Malapascua at 4 in the afternoon. So there is really nothing much to do. Right after we had our lunch (very late lunch) we took a stroll on the beach side going back to the place we are staying and waited for the sunset.
Who wouldn't love sunset, right? You can't always have the opportunity to watch the sunset in the city. But in Malapascua, you have all the freedom to do it.
Malapascua is known to be a diving site and I will no longer wonder why. On the next day, we did island hopping and snorkeling. It was fun! really. We started our day early because we no longer have the whole day for it. We visited 5 destinations and each time we arrive in the place we snorkel. Honestly, I don't know how to swim but thanks for the life jacket. haha! I was able to enjoy watching and feeding the fish. We even saw a ship wreck, seeing it was somehow scary. I have a very wild imagination so when I saw it I thought maybe there are sharks, ghost and whatever. Or maybe there's a treasure (lol).
a friend of mine doesn't know how to swim also and she's scared of drowning so she decided to stay on the boat and she's the one who took this picture. haha
this is she my bestfriend Sarahj who doesn't know how to swim and funnily she gets scared to go into the sea even with life jackets. But, good thing she overcome her fears.
While waiting for our lunch to be ready (our boat men are the one's who prepared for it), we took every minute of our time enjoying the sea.
me with my hired lifters (haha)
I've always wanted to make this picture, finally I did it. But there's really nothing special about it though. Feet up!
getting some tan for my skin (haha)
After lunch, we head back to our place. We don't want to say goodbye to the paradise island yet but what can we do. Every escape has it's ending and need to face reality. As soon as we are done packing our things we waited for our boat to arrive so we can go back to the port of Maya and finally head home.
that look when a person don't want to leave yet.
To sum it up, our whole experience in Malapascua was awesome. The long trip was worth it, 2 days was not enough and we'll surely find time to go back.
See you when I see you, Malapascua! Thank you for the awesome stay, til next time!
